In various places in Voeren the true original pear syrup is still made in a manner which has its origin in past centuries. This is done in large brass kettles of approx. 800 litres, over an open fire in the floor of the syrup makery (really an open barn). The tall tree fruit is mixed in a proportion of 70 percent pears and 30 percent apples.

Then it is submitted to a cook-press-cook-process which takes some 22 hours. Then the syrup can be scooped out, after which some 100 kilogrammes remain of 800 kilogrammes of fruit.

The Voeren syrup is a genuine natural product, without any additives.
